Guest Speakers and Participating Organizations

Dan Burden, Executive Director of Walkable Communities and recently named one of Time Magazine’s Top 6 Community Activists. Dan Burden is a nationally recognized authority on bicycle and pedestrian facilities and programs. He has had 25 years of experience in developing, promoting and evaluating alternative transportation facilities, traffic calming practices and sustainable community design. He served for 16 years as Florida DOT’s State Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator, and he presently works as Executive Director of Walkable Communities, Inc., a non-profit corporation helping North America develop walkable communities.

Richard E. "Rich' Corbett is currently Intermodal Transportation Manager for PAG (Pima Assoctiation of Goverments) and serving as El Tour de Tucson Bike Patrol Director for the past ten years. A Certified Cycling Instructor and Coach, and formerly: Chair of the Governor's Arizona Bicycle Task Force, Chair of the League of American Bicyclists' National Education & Awards Committees and PAG's Regional Bicycling Coordinator. In addition he has been an expert witness in bicycle cases for the last 14 years.

Beth Gorman, Program Manager, Pima County Department of Environmental Quality (PDEQ), Tucson, Arizona. Beth manages the Communications Division of the department, which consists of several pollution prevention and public outreach programs concerning air quality, storm water, and recycling. She is also the media spokesperson for the department.

Dan Johnson, Executive Director, Wellness Council of Tucson which coordinates wellness programs for over 90,000 southern Arizona employees. Dan serves on the Southern Arizona Advisory Board for the American Diabetes Association, the Arizona Governor's Council on Physical Fitness, Sports and Health along the advisory board for the Arizona Department of Health Services' "Healthy Arizona 2010". Robin Johnson, Environmental Specialist, Pima County Department of Environmental Quality (PDEQ)), Tucson Arizona. Robin coordinates and conducts the education outreach programs for recycling, air quality, illegal dumping, and storm water programs. Ms. Johnson plans or helps coordinate environmental based community events.
